Another day, another stale idea. The time it’s The Nutcracker getting the rehash treatment, with the news that Hairspray director Adam Shankman wants to direct a new family-friendly version of the tale.
The script comes from Darren Lake, who
worked on Jack the Giant Killer and Shrek 4Ever After, making him an ideal candidate for reworking the fairy tale. We’re also expecting it to be a musical, given the names behind it.
The film will be based on the original story, E.T.A. Hoffman’s The Nutcracker and the Rat King, which also inspired the Tchaikovsky ballet. Colour us apprehensive, but hopeful. You can expect to see it in late 20
